I left Cape on another cloudy winter day, heading north. The road was not particulary interresting, and the landscape got gradualy more baren. At some point, i choose to turn left to the ocean coast and try to visit what is said to be one of the most remote national park of South Africa : the Richtersveld NP. The road to the coast goes through barren landscape and felt really deserted. There are 2 small villages on this remote part of the coast. One is an old fisherman s village... ...the other city host the people working in the numerous diamond mines of the area Then the road stops and a track goes inland, following up the Orange river. The park is a moutaneous area with desertic climate. I had a little time there, just enough to overlook this particular landscapes and flora. To go with the remoteness of the place, the border crossing to Namibia is done with a small ferry. |
